Tree trimming

Tree trimmer, Tree pruner,Saint-Constant

Trimming and pruning are the two techniques we do most often. In both cases, what is removed are branches or sections of the trees. Sometimes partially, sometimes entirely. But each of these techniques has very different intentions. It is useful to understand them before contacting us; so we present them to you.

Pruning or trimming a tree: what's the difference?

Pruning is part of the general intention to protect the good constitution of any tree; if necessary, it is even a question of improving the latter as well as the growth of the tree specimen.

This does not mean, of course, that the professional pruner will ignore your needs. On the contrary, he will try to meet them, but without harming the trees. Pruning is limited to absolutely necessary cuts; nothing is left to chance; what is removed must be removed, i.e. broken, diseased, fragile branches...

For its part, pruning only pays attention to imperative, unavoidable and often urgent needs. The effects on the plant are therefore no longer taken into account, as the reason is so important. The pruning carried out is then much more radical, by larger gestures, where dexterity certainly intervenes but hardly the meticulousness. The cutting, however important it may be, for example a large part of a tree or its top, can be done in a single visit. Such drastic cuts present real risks for the health of the plant, and deplorable consequences can ensue. Often, it is safety imperatives that dictate the need for pruning, such as to avoid damage to electrical wires or constructions, from which a good part of a tree is too close.

Tree trimming

Suppose a tree that does not have to be felled. But pruning would not be appropriate either. So, whatever the reasons, which are very diverse, that's when trimming comes in. The most characteristic and well-known cases are those where Hydro-Québec or the municipality have trimming done to protect the integrity of structures. The request may nevertheless come from a homeowner who wishes to prevent damage to his residence, because he is very aware that a particular branch is about to reach it. Among the safety issues are situations where the development of branches is likely to interfere with traffic in a pedestrian, bicycle or automobile lane.

Another type of intervention consists of trimmong trees since they are masking a magnificent view. In other cases, owners have the entire lower branch removed from a tree so that furniture can be installed without further delay.

Trimming damages plants. They are under enormous stress, which can result in early death. It is therefore strongly recommended, even before considering pruning, to discuss your needs with a certified arboriculturist, so that he or she can give you the right advice. Tree pruning

When the technique is skillfully applied, pruning becomes a means of preventing situations that would require more drastic gestures in the future, such as pruning or even felling a tree.

The professional pruner knows his business. He carefully selects the branches he will prune. His goal is to stick to the essentials. Also, his eye, as he scans the branches, is on the lookout for breaks or signs of weakness, disease, or dryness indicating a lack of life.

Little by little, as he gestures, he does not lose sight of the tree structure. The tree structure is gradually consolidating, and the possibility of branches falling in the future is significantly reduced. In other words, there is less risk of injury or other more fatal consequences.

The expert pruner that he is, also seeks to gently reorient branches whose angle of push could eventually come dangerously close to your house for example. He can also play on the development trajectory to control the lighting or the light bathing a part of the ground, i.e. a landscaping or a dining area in particular.

Sober and regular pruning encourages tree growth. In the case of fruit trees, production becomes more abundant. This technique can also make a plant look better when it is done brilliantly.

Could you do without the benefits of trees in your life? The better they are cared for, the more indispensable benefits they provide. You can rest assured that our pruners do professional work and that they will give your trees the care they need for each species, so that they can grow healthy and you can enjoy them for as long as possible.
